And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him.

Le roi a nommé le seigneur ... La nouvelle, se répandant comme un éclair dans la ville, a été suivie, comme il était naturel, par une ruée populaire vers le camp syrien. Pour maintenir l'ordre à la porte, le roi ordonna à son ministre de garder la garde; mais l'impétuosité du peuple affamé ne pouvait être résistée. Le seigneur fut foulé aux pieds et la prophétie d'Elisée, à tous égards, accomplie.
