Ecclésiaste 10:20

Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.

Pensée - littéralement, conscience.

Rich - le grand. Le langage, appliqué aux princes terrestres connaissant la «pensée», est figuratif. Mais cela vaut littéralement pour le Roi des rois, dont nous devrions jamais réaliser la conscience de chaque pensée mauvaise.

Chambre à coucher - l'endroit le plus secret (2 Rois 6:12).

Oiseau de l'air ... - proverbial (cf. Luc 19:40); d'une manière aussi merveilleuse et rapide que si des oiseaux, ou un messager ailé, portaient au roi des informations sur la malédiction ainsi prononcée. En Orient, la sagacité surhumaine était attribuée aux oiseaux.
