Jérémie 44:26

Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

J'ai juré - Moi aussi, j'ai fait un vœu que je vais remplir. Puisque vous ne m'entendrez pas parler et avertir, écoutez-moi jurer.

Par mon grand nom - i: e., par moi-même (Genèse 22:16), le plus grand par qui Dieu peut jurer (Hébreux 6:13 - Hébreux 6:14). Mon nom ne sera plus nommé. Les Juifs jusque-là, au milieu de toute leur idolâtrie, avaient conservé la forme d'appel au nom de Dieu et la loi la gloire distinctive de leur nation. Dieu ne permettra plus cela (Ézéchiel 20:39). Il ne restera plus personne en Egypte pour profaner ainsi son nom.
