Lévitique 17:5

To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.

Ils offrent en plein champ. "Ils" sont supposés par certains commentateurs se référer aux Egyptiens; afin que le verset soit ainsi: «les enfants d'Israël peuvent apporter leurs sacrifices qu'ils (les Egyptiens) offrent en plein champ». Mais la construction grammaticale exige plutôt que le pronom soit lié aux «enfants d'Israël» - le sujet du contexte. On pense que la loi a été dirigée contre des nombres dont les habitudes égyptiennes les ont conduits à imiter cette pratique idolâtre.
