Nombres 9:14

And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.

Si un étranger ... gardera la Pâque. Les gentils convertis, ou prosélytes, comme on les appelait par la suite, étaient admis, s'ils étaient circoncis, aux mêmes privilèges que Israélites indigènes, et étaient passibles d'excommunication s'ils négligeaient la Pâque. Mais la circoncision était une condition indispensable; et quiconque ne se soumettait pas à ce rite était interdit, sous les peines les plus sévères, de manger la Pâque.
