Cantico dei Cantici 7:1

Come sono belli i tuoi piedi con le scarpe, o figlia del principe! le giunture delle tue cosce [sono] come gioielli, opera delle mani di un abile operaio.

Quanto sono belli i tuoi piedi con le scarpe, ecc. ] Prima l'aveva descritta dalla testa ai piedi; ora di nuovo di nuovo, dai piedi alla testa, accogliendo dieci parti della sua sposa, riguardo alla quale - tale era il suo amore - pensava di non poter mai dire sufficiente. Comincia dalla parte più bassa e più abietta, i piedi, non senza ammirarli. O quam pulchri sunt pedes tui! "Oh, quanto sono belli i tuoi piedi con le scarpe!" Una vocazione temporale onora la nostra professione; così alcuni lo capiscono.

Others make the meaning to be, the Church's being "shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace"; Eph 6:15 ready pressed to "run with patience the race that is set before her." The joints of thy thighs are like jewels, &c., ] i.e., Thy loins are compassed with the belt of truth; for so some render it, The compassing of thy thighs or loins. And here, if ever, ungirt, unblest. "Gird up therefore the loins of your minds"; 1Pe 1:13 gird yourselves and serve God. Luk 17:8 Girding implies readiness, nimbleness, handiness, handsomeness. A loose, discinct, and diffluent mind is unfit for holy actions.
